Dubai Museums Company Partners With At The Top, Burj Khalifa To Open A Shop At The Etihad Museum
(21 October 2017)

The Dubai Museums Company, a Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) entity, has strengthened the visitor experience at the Etihad Museum by launching a new museum shop in partnership with At the Top, Burj Khalifa. The shop opened its doors earlier this month, inviting visitors to discover a range of merchandise inspired by the museum and its brand identity.

As part of the partnership, At the Top, Burj Khalifa is also providing a roaming photography service for visitors at the Etihad Museum, who can have their picture taken by professionals and pick their photos up at the end of their visit.

Muna Faisal Al Gurg, Managing Director of the Dubai Museums Company, commented: “The Dubai Museums Company is pleased to be partnering with At the Top, Burj Khalifa, which is aligned with our government’s vision of strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors to establish a sustainable and competitive economy that is based on knowledge, expertise and diversity. This partnership also furthers our mandates to support Dubai Culture in developing our museum sector by enhancing the visitor experience and positioning museums as vital centres for the UAE’s community and global audiences to exchange knowledge and cultural dialogue. We are delighted to be welcoming visitors to the new Etihad Museum shop, where they will find an exciting range of items to commemorate their visit and deepen their understanding of the museum’s story.”

Ahmad Al Falasi, Executive Director – Group Operations at Emaar Properties, said: “With our experience in managing leisure attractions such as At the Top, Burj Khalifa, which add to the pride of our city, we are bringing our expertise to managing the retail store at Etihad Museum. By showcasing merchandise that underlines the rich heritage of our nation as well as its monumental advancements, we are committed to delivering all visitors an exceptional experience. Etihad Museum is a compelling destination by Dubai Culture that documents our nation’s history and the retail store will complement the strategic vision of Etihad Museum in ensuring that every visitor returns with a memento that will help form lasting memories of our nation.”

As part of the souvenir shopping experience, guests will be intrigued by a range of unique merchandise from the ‘1971’ collection to celebrate the year when the union was formed. Visitors can own a desk clock inspired by a personal belonging of Sheikh Khalid Bin Muhammad Al Qassimi and a pocket watch that belonged to Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, presented in a premium wooden box. Guests can also choose between a vintage wax set, a crystal block engraved with an artist illustrated representation of the seven rulers who signed the historic agreement, and a model of the Union House, which hosted the landmark occasion.

The Dubai Museums Company was established by Dubai Culture in May of this year as part of the Authority’s mandates to support Dubai’s vision of becoming a regional and global focal point for diverse cultural exchange, to manage and oversee the Emirate’s museums, and to preserve and showcase Emirati culture. The new company is responsible for concluding agreements between public and private bodies both locally and internationally; organising cultural exhibitions, events, workshops, programmes, conferences, seminars and training courses related to the museum sector; and managing all commercial activities in the museums under Dubai Culture’s stewardship.

Dubai Culture manages over 16 heritage sites across Dubai, each of which showcases the essence and rich heritage of the city. From historical artefacts to a vintage coin collection, there is something for everyone to explore and discover. Dubai Culture also manages the Etihad Museum, which tells the inspirational story of the 1971 Union Agreement through the eyes of the Founding Fathers to offer a valuable human insight into the Emirate’s rich history.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
